Korean Pop Groups Recommendations

Korean pop music is catchy and great for jamming to even if you don’t know what the lyrics mean. There is a growing demand for Kpop, so concerts take place not just in Korea but also in the U.S.

The Gods of Kpop would be TVXQ, because of their awesome dancing and strong vocals.

For boy bands, there are usually the categories of a dark cool or flower boy image. For a really catchy band that is very talented at dancing, I would recommend EXO.

B.A.P, Block B and VIXX are bands that fit the dark cool image. For the more flower boy image, I would recommend the bands Shinee and Got7.

One of the most popular Kpop bands is Big Bang. Their eight released tracks of the album MADE got onto The Top 20 songs for World Digital Songs in the summer of 2015 with three being at the top.

Every member of Big Bang has done some of their own solo work, but G-Dragon is the most well known. G-Dragon has gotten popular with his very unique style and voice.

Kpop bands with a rock feel would include FT Island, CNBlue, and Day 6.

Female bands tend to be sexy, cute, or have a unique hip style. Bands with the sexy image that I would recommend is AOA and EXID.For the cute image I would recommend the group Oh My Girl.

I find the smaller groups with the unique hip image tend to have the best image. A couple of the best girl groups that I would recommend are 4Minute, f(x) and Mamamoo. Ladies Code has a more artsy and elegant look too. These bands are very unique and have some powerful vocals.

One female band that has gotten the most attention in the U.S. is 2NE1. There have been shows and commercials featuring 2NE1’s music. Actress Emma Stone also mentioned that they are her favorite Kpop group. From the band 2NE1, CL has gained much attention as a solo artist for her song “Hello Bitches”.

Girls Generation is also extremely popular in Korea and overseas. They have been featured on shows such as ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’.

There aren’t very many kpop male-female duos, but one that I would recommend is Trouble Maker. Trouble Maker is known for their scandalous choreography and music videos. The duo was formed with the member Hyuna from 4Minute and JS from B2ST.

The Queen of Kpop, Hyuna, is known as the sexiest star with her risque choreography and an empowered woman image.

I have found that the best and most popular Kpop has come from these groups or the solo artists that were originally a part of them. From these suggestions and image types, which have you found a liking for? What songs do you like the most?
